Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer has heralded Xbox's Cloud-based future - via the "next generation of 360", Kinect.Speaking at the London School Of Economics during a talk on the future of Cloud Computing this morning, the MS CEO said Kinect was the device he was most excited about for the future - ahead of smartphones or tablets.
"The device that I'm most keen on...is the next generation of the Xbox 360, [Kinect]," he said, according to TechRadar.
"You control everything on your television screen, and the content interaction with friends is happening in the Cloud.
"It is a smart device that is processing me. It gives us the ability to have a natural user interface. And you can participate in games with friends across the globe."
Kinect is due for launch on November 10 in the UK. Microsoft announced a handful of 'core' games for the device at TGS.
Ballmer also discussed Xbox's history - and Microsoft's battle to overcome the naysayers with the console.
"We had, back in the early 2000, people who said we were wrong to do the Xbox," he said.
"Well looking at the profit we are making on the Xbox now, I can say we were not wrong to do it at all."
