- - The Witcher 2 is surely coming to PCs and they are game’s basic platform. Console version – in plans, negotiations in progress. W2 is not coming to Mac or Linux.
- Further in 2010 (2nd half of the year) they are going to announce W2 for next-gen-consoles. So PC first, then consoles. - During the official announcement they want to tell us about publisher - Lot of details are going to be released. - Those details are going to be "very interesting" - Less than 100 people are working on W2. - Kiciński: "premiere of W2 is not so far". - W2 commercial campaign will start in Russia in this month - When the host asked about details, Kiciński strongly suggested that they'd like to bring W2 to stores before Christmas - Another polish studio, Metropolis, which was bought by CDP about two years ago is now working with RED to "finish" W2. - Level of complication of W2 production is very high and that's why they (REDs) do one project at the time. - Less than 100 people are working on W2. - Demo will appear one month before game’s release. - Citación :
- W2 uses CDP RED’s brand new engine, which was created especially for implementation of complicated logical structure – advanced story connections, generating random NPC’s activity and other features, characteristic for RPG games, which (for instance) Cry Engine could not deal with
• In connection to the new engine, the “Y-axis boundaries” disappears – it means Geralt can jump, sit and use the stairs or ladders to go upstairs and enter rooftops now. Still, it won’t be Assassins Creed and freerun won’t be an option • New engine is said to be far more stable than Aurora was • Game’s editor is said to be a lot of quicker than D’jinni was (can’t say, whether REDs use new version of D’jinni or completely new editor) • Thanks to the new technology, we won’t see loading screens when entering small locations as houses. Still, we are going to wait a bit while entering huge location. • Houses will be made in 1:1 scale • W2 uses Havok 6.5 physics engine and Havok Animation (which is of course advanced animation tool). That’s why we could expect a lot better physics than it was in W1 and an ass-kicking animations (the ass-kicking thing are MY words, not REDs quotation) • In W1 production SpeedTree utility is being used. (W1 used it too) • In W2 we are going to see unique NPC’s generating system. It’s prototype we can see in Enhanced Edition (yeah, it’s the one with purple monster and villagers in pink shorts) • If released on consoles, W2 won’t support Arc nor Natal • Game is going to be even more mature and brutal, as it remains “dark fantasy” • Rolling heads, vulgarisms and naked ladies – those things stay untouched • Erotica is going to be presented as part of life, not a mini-game (SOLD SOLD SOLD) • New set of fatalities is being created for W2 • QTE are going to be in final version of the game • Difficulty level is probable to be increased, because “general opinion is that W1 was too easy” • In W2 there are going to be both old- and new mini-games, each re-build from their beginnings • There are going to be sword-sheaths in W2. Yeah! • Fight will be important, but not an only one element of gameplay. It is said to be more dynamical, impressive, intuitive, bloody. The player should have much more control over Geralt’s movements. Fight’s general assumptions are yet to be decided. It’s likely that combat system will use some of elements created for RotWW • Alchemy and signs are rebuild to be more useful. Dialogue system will be changed. • On PC we will we able to play both on keypad and gamepad. Both systems are said to be comfortable and intuitive • We should be able to enter every house on our way • Locations are to be much bigger and varied than they were in W1 • Motion capture is being recorded by the same stunt team that worked on W1 • There is gonna be new, dynamic camera and improved day-and-night cycle • NPC are ‘living their own lives’ now, dynamically reacting on not only player’s activities (house robbing ENDS now!) but also on all in-game incidents and following their daily routine (which means there won’t be villagers drinking 24/7 in the pub) • Approach to cutscenes will be totally changed to make them more “theatrical” • Geralt’s haircut is still being discussed within CDP RED • All characters models are made from zero, which could suggest that we will meet some of the old friends from W1 • After W1 release, the animation team went stronger and Havok Animation was purchased. We should then expect much improvements in animations. • New shields (and swords PROBABLY too) won’t jump out of every corner, but there will be some new models for sure • Appearing of unique monsters (as dragon or the kraken) will be well-based in the story Fuente: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=26240.0 & Fukuy | |
